Stone and McCary first met in fall of 2016, during Stone’s third time hosting Saturday Night Live. She acted in a sketch that McCary directed called “Wells For Boys.” The hilarious sketch coincidentally featured Stone as a mother. She buys her son a toy well from Fisher-Price’s “Sensitive Boy Line” that he gazes dreamily into.In July 2017, the pair was seen leaving the premiere of Emmy-nominated McCary’s directorial debut Brigsby Bear, causing speculation about their new romance.But a year later the romance was confirmed to the public. Their official debut as a couple was at the 2019 SAG awards, when Stone was nominated for her work in The Favourite.
